HEC announces AI training for university officials
Three-day training announced
The HEC AI training programme for university administrators will focus on practical uses of artificial intelligence in university management.
The HEC training programme will be organised through HEC’s National Academy of Higher Education.
The artificial intelligence training will take place from October 7 to 9, 2026, at the NAHE campus in Islamabad.
The sessions will run from 9am to 4pm each day. The HEC AI training is designed to give university administrators practical experience with digital tools.
Who can participate?
The artificial intelligence training is aimed at university administrators and other management officials working in BPS-17, BPS-18 and BPS-19.
Eligible officials include assistant registrars, deputy registrars, controllers, treasurers and other administrative staff.
Universities can nominate up to five eligible officers for the HEC training programme.
If nominations are higher than the available seats, preference will be given to the first two nominees from each institution.
AI tools for university work
The HEC AI training programme will focus on hands-on use of artificial intelligence instead of only covering basic concepts.
The artificial intelligence training will show officials how digital tools can support admissions, examinations, record keeping and routine university operations.
For university administrators, the training could provide practical ways to save time and improve the handling of daily responsibilities.
The HEC AI training will also help participants understand how modern tools can be used in different areas of university management.

Programme to expand nationwide
HEC also plans to organise similar artificial intelligence training sessions at its regional centres in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
The expansion could give more university administrators an opportunity to learn about AI without travelling to Islamabad.
The HEC training programme is part of wider efforts to strengthen digital skills in higher education institutions.
Focus on better services
According to HEC, the initiative is intended to improve governance, transparency and service delivery through modern technology.
The HEC AI training programme could help university administrators understand how AI can support routine tasks while improving efficiency.
The artificial intelligence training may also help officials identify areas where digital tools can make university services faster and more organised.
