What the climate internship programme offers
The programme includes several learning opportunities designed to give interns practical knowledge instead of classroom-based training alone.
Selected participants will have access to a Learning Management System (LMS), where they can complete learning activities and develop their understanding of climate issues.
Interns will also receive district-level learning opportunities and exposure to the working environment of EPA field offices. This will allow participants to understand how environmental policies and programmes are implemented at the local level.
The programme also aims to provide exposure to the Strategic Development, communication and climate policy units of the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EP&CCD).
Another significant part of the internship is the Capstone Project. Participants will be expected to apply their learning and work on a project connected with climate or environmental issues.
Mentorship and certification included
The Punjab government has also included expert mentorship in the programme. This will allow interns to learn from professionals working in areas connected with climate change and environmental sustainability.
UNCC Certification is also included in the internship programme. The certification can provide participants with additional recognition of their training and learning experience.
The programme particularly focuses on increasing female participation. According to the announcement, 50 percent of the available seats are reserved for female students.
A special quota has also been allocated for foreign graduates, allowing eligible foreign Pakistani graduates to participate in the programme.
Who can apply and how much will interns receive?
The selected participants will work under the Phase-II Batch III of the climate leadership development internship programme.
Each successful intern will receive Rs60,000 per month for the three-month internship period. This means the total stipend for the full internship period would amount to Rs180,000 for each selected participant.
The financial support is intended to make the programme more accessible to young graduates while they gain professional experience in climate-related fields.
The initiative could also help participants build experience that may be useful when applying for future jobs, training programmes or opportunities in environmental and climate-related sectors.
