Family members and Edhi volunteers on Tuesday appeared before a judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza Ali murder case and provided details about his disappearance and the recovery of his body.

The commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Omar Sial, questioned Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, and other family members about the events surrounding his disappearance.

Mir Raza’s mother told the commission that she received a call from his friend Haitham around 4:14am, saying Mir Raza had deleted his social media accounts. His fiancée also contacted the family after he stopped responding to messages.

CCTV Footage Raises Questions

The family said Mir Raza’s keys, Apple Watch and most belongings remained at home. They also attempted to trace his location through iCloud but could not access the required information.

According to the family, CCTV footage showed Mir Raza outside the house and later getting into a vehicle that travelled at high speed towards Khalid bin Walid Road and Lake Park.

The family also raised questions about a missing partnership agreement and the conduct of some friends who visited the house after his disappearance.

Police Response Questioned

Mir Hussain alleged that police initially refused to register an FIR, suggesting his son may have left after becoming upset. The family said the FIR was eventually registered around 4:30pm after intervention from a relative.

Edhi Volunteers Give Evidence

Edhi volunteers Mohsin and Javed told the commission that they found Mir Raza’s body in a difficult-to-access location before 1pm. They said the body appeared to have a gunshot wound and that police were present at the scene.

The volunteers further stated that police never contacted them again after the body was recovered.

The commission is continuing to examine the CCTV footage, missing weapon, police response and circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
