A police case has been registered against Inspector Ghulam Nabi Afridi, a member of the investigation team probing the Mir Raza Ali murder case, over allegations of registering a false FIR against a citizen.

The case was registered at Shah Latif Town Police Station on behalf of the state. It involves allegations that police officials and others allegedly worked together to fabricate evidence, misuse their authority and demand money from the citizen.

Former SHOs also nominated

Two former Station House Officers of Shah Latif Police Station, along with former investigation officers, have also been nominated in the case.

Police said four people, including the individual who allegedly filed the false FIR, have been taken into custody. The investigation will determine the exact roles of all those involved.

Alleged fabrication of evidence

According to the FIR, the police officials allegedly attempted to implicate the citizen in a case involving the alleged theft of a plot file and gold.

The complaint alleges that Investigation Officer Iftikhar Tanoli prepared a fabricated site inspection report. It further claims that Rs100,000 was transferred into the citizen's bank account in an alleged attempt to create evidence against him.

Investigation underway

The FIR also alleges that false documents and witnesses were prepared to strengthen the case. Investigators have reportedly found suspected alterations and forgery in official records.

Police said the nominated officers had previously conducted a raid at a businessman's residence in Defence. Further investigation is underway, and authorities are expected to determine whether the allegations are supported by evidence.
