The father of slain Mir Raza Ali has expressed reservations over the Sindh government’s decision to establish a judicial commission to investigate his son’s death.

Speaking on private news channel, Mir Hussain Ali said the family had requested a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and wanted the government to consider their demand.

“We want to know who the killer is. Why is a JIT not being formed?” he questioned.

Mir Hussain said the family was not consulted before the government announced the judicial commission. He claimed they learned about the decision through television reports instead of receiving direct communication from officials.

Questions over government response

The bereaved father also questioned Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab’s statement that the government was standing with the family.

He asked Wahab to explain why a JIT had not been formed and what was preventing authorities from accepting the family’s request.

According to Mir Hussain, the family had cooperated with investigative teams throughout the case, including during the burial process. However, he said relatives now wanted a JIT to increase their confidence in the investigation.

Concerns over investigation

Mir Hussain also raised concerns about earlier developments, claiming that the exhumation process had encountered obstacles and that the investigation panel was changed overnight.

He clarified that the family would not object to a judge supervising the probe if authorities considered it necessary. However, he maintained that forming a JIT remained the family’s main demand.

He questioned why the family’s request was being rejected if the same investigative teams would ultimately work under the judicial commission.

Mir Hussain urged the Sindh government to contact the family directly, listen to their concerns and take them into confidence over the next steps in the investigation.
