“The show will feature a star-studded judging panel including actor Fawad Khan, singer Zeb Bangash, qawwali artist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood,” as per a media report.
For fans, Fawad’s return is especially poignant. The former lead singer of Entity Paradigm later soared to fame in dramas like Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Bollywood films such as Kapoor & Sons, and for performing the 2019 PSL anthem. His broad appeal is seen as a key draw for young talent.
In a first for the global Idol franchise, the show is set to broadcast simultaneously across five major TV networks, alongside a full digital rollout. “This multi-platform approach aims to reach diverse audiences across Pakistan’s various regions and languages,” notes the report.
Online voting, audition uploads through the Begin platform, and ground auditions planned in remote areas ensure a nationwide path for participation.
Zoya Merchant, director of MHL Global—the media group behind the reboot—emphasized the show s larger vision:
“Our partnership with Fremantle on Pakistan Idol marks a major step forward for Pakistan’s creative and entertainment industries. This launch represents more than entertainment – it’s a cultural movement. Pakistan has incredible musical talent, and this platform will not only spotlight it nationwide but elevate it to the global stage.”
Production is slated to begin later this year, with on-air dates and audition schedules to be announced soon. Former contestants and music industry veterans anticipate world-class sets, evolved judging formats, and in-show mentor-led challenges.
As Pakistan looks to discover its next vocal sensation, Pakistan Idol returns not just as a singing contest, but as a nationwide platform to celebrate cultural diversity, empower young voices, and showcase Pakistani music on a global stage.
