Web Desk: Yasir Hussain has spoken out against Sunny Deol’s Border 2, asking for films that focus on human stories rather than chest-thumping nationalism, much like Dharmendra’s Ikkis.

The actor-director Yasir Hussain criticized Sunny Deol’s latest blockbuster, saying that while Border 2 has been commercially successful, it promotes anti-Pakistan and anti-Muslim narratives that oversimplify real conflicts.

Addressing Sunny Deol directly, Yasir Hussain wrote that love reaches hearts, but hatred does not. He urged Deol to create at least one film like Dharmendra’s Ikkis, which focused on the human cost of war rather than patriotic spectacle.

Border 2, starring Sunny Deol alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, revisits the 1971 India-Pakistan war with high-octane action and a loud nationalistic message.

While the movie crossed Rs22,000,000 in box office earnings since January 23, critics say it lacks the emotional depth of Dharmendra’s Ikkis.

Yasir Hussain emphasized that anti-war films like Dharmendra’s Ikkis do not dilute patriotism but challenge audiences to consider grief, moral dilemmas, and the real cost of conflict.
