NCCIA reopens investigation
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has decided to conduct a fresh investigation into allegations involving actor Momina Iqbal and PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar.
Fresh notices have been issued to both parties, asking them to appear before the NCCIA’s Lahore office on Friday, September 4.
The development comes after a request for reinvestigation based on new defence evidence.
The agency has formed a special investigation team to examine the latest material and reassess the case.
New evidence under review
The special team will be headed by an officer of deputy director rank.
It will examine the newly obtained digital evidence along with records and other material collected during the earlier investigation.
The team has been given one month to complete its inquiry and submit a report to the Director General.
The NCCIA will then decide whether further legal action is required based on the findings.
The latest development has brought the Momina Iqbal case back into focus after earlier court proceedings appeared to point in a different direction.

Court position changes
The case has already seen a major shift in recent weeks.
On July 28, a previous NCCIA investigating officer told a Lahore sessions court that Chadhar had been found guilty during the investigation.
However, new investigating officer Hassan Sajjad Naqvi later presented a different position before the court on September 3.
Naqvi said the investigation had changed and that Chadhar’s arrest was not required at the present stage.
Following the statement, Chadhar and his wife withdrew their pre-arrest bail petitions.
The development has added another twist to the Saqib Chadhar cyber harassment case, which is now being examined again by a newly formed team.
Allegations by the actor
Momina Iqbal had earlier accused the MPA of online harassment, cyberbullying, threats and blackmail.
Following her complaint, the NCCIA registered a case against Chadhar in June under several provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Both sides have presented different accounts of the dispute.
The fresh investigation means authorities will now compare the new digital material with evidence gathered during the previous probe.
The Momina Iqbal harassment case could therefore see further developments after the special team completes its review.

The Momina Iqbal case remains under investigation, and the latest move does not settle the allegations against either side.
The NCCIA will review the evidence before deciding on any further legal steps.
The Saqib Chadhar cyber harassment case has now entered another stage, with the new investigation expected to determine what action may follow.
For now, the focus remains on the newly surfaced digital evidence and what the special team finds during its month-long review.
