Decade-old Wedding Booking Sparks Court Action
The case dates back to November 16, 2017, when Ameesha Patel was allegedly booked to perform at a wedding. Event organiser Pawan Kumar Verma had paid her an advance of Rs14,50,000 and arranged her hotel stay in Moradabad. However, Ameesha reportedly did not appear at the event.
Verma claimed that Ameesha promised to return the advance after failing to attend, but the issue remained unresolved for years. On Monday, the Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant as she missed a scheduled hearing. The court has now instructed Ameesha to appear on March 27.
Ameesha Breaks Silence on Instagram
Responding to the media buzz, Ameesha clarified the situation on Instagram. She called the allegations false and stated that the case had already been settled.

“Media reports suggest certain proceedings at Moradabad by one Pawan Verma. I wish to inform all that this is a very old matter in which the said Pawan Verma had signed a settlement deed and received the entire agreed amount,” she wrote.

She added, “Despite this, it seems he has lodged proceedings making false allegations. My lawyers are initiating appropriate criminal proceedings of cheating against this person while I prefer to focus on my work and ignore people who make a public spectacle for gaining attention on false pretexts.”
Previous Legal Issues
This is not Ameesha Patel’s first cheque-related legal drama. In 2023, she surrendered before the Ranchi Civil Court in a 2018 cheque bounce case with businessman Ajay Kumar Singh, owner of Lovely World Entertainment. Singh had invested Rs2,50,00,000 in a film project that never released.
Even earlier, in November 2021, a cheque of Rs32,25,000 issued by Ameesha to UTF Telefilms bounced, causing further legal trouble.
