(Web Desk): Famous Indian comedian Kapil Sharma's recently opened café in Canada targeted during a shooting incident just days after opening.

Police reports state that at least nine shots were fired at Caps Café in Surrey, British Columbia. But there were no reports of any injuries.

Police reports revealed the shooting took place at about 1:50 a.m. on July 9, 2025, to which the Surrey Police Service (SPS) responded right away. The police discovered 10 bullet strikes, with one of the windows of the café shattered entirely. A few employees were present at the time of the attack, but no one was injured. The authorities have since initiated a forensic examination and are analyzing CCTV footage.

Controversial Khalistani personality Harjit Singh Laddi, who is currently in Germany, took responsibility for the attack on Twitter. Laddi said that the attack was in response to a segment in The Great Indian Kapil Show that he said mocked Nihang Sikhs  uniforms and that he was offended by.

It is worth mentioning here that Nihang Sikhs are a major, warrior order in Sikhism, distinguished by their unique blue dress, arms and martial customs. They are regarded as the militant arm of Sikhism and are famous for being fearless and disciplined in following Sikh moral code.

Notably, Caps Café is Kapil Sharma s maiden entry into the restaurant business, and his wife Ginni Chatrath is also associated with the venture. The café had just been opened on July 7, 2025, and had already become popular, particularly among the neighborhood South Asian community.

The shooting incident has now raised issues of security and the police are still probing the motive behind the incident and the participants.
