Petrol price in Pakistan falls as diesel gets costlier

The Energy Ministry has issued a notification confirming the new petroleum prices.

According to the notification, OGRA revised the prices under the pricing mechanism approved by the federal government.
The new rates will apply from August 13, 2026.

Petrol price sees small cut

The petrol price has been reduced by 94 paisas per litre.
After the reduction, petrol will cost Rs324.98 per litre instead of Rs325.92.

The change is relatively small compared with recent fuel price movements.
However, even a minor change in petrol prices can affect transport costs and household budgets.

Diesel price increases

The diesel price has increased by 54 paisas per litre under the new notification.
The new diesel price has been set at Rs382.79 per litre, up from Rs382.25.

The government had reduced the petrol price by Rs1.70 per litre in the previous revision.
At the same time, the diesel price had increased by 39 paisas to Rs382.25 per litre.

The latest decision brings a small relief for petrol users but adds another increase for diesel consumers.
The impact may be more noticeable for transport and businesses that depend heavily on diesel.

The new rates will remain important for consumers because fuel prices can affect transport and delivery costs.
Any future change will depend on international oil prices, exchange rates and the government’s pricing mechanism.
