NEPRA has issued a formal notification regarding this price hike. According to NEPRA's notification, electricity rates have been raised by Rs1.42 per unit. This increase is due to the fuel price adjustment for February 2026, which will reflect in the upcoming electricity bills for April.
The new rates will apply to all electricity consumers in Pakistan, including those served by K-Electric, as per government policy guidelines. However, this price hike will not apply to lifeline consumers or electric vehicle charging stations.

NEPRA had previously reserved its decision after hearing a request to increase prices based on the fuel price adjustment for February. The Central Power Purchasing Agency had argued that low hydropower production and growing electricity demand were key reasons for the increase in costs.
Before this, a similar increase was seen in January, where electricity prices were raised by Rs1.63 per unit due to fuel price adjustments.
This price hike will impact all electricity consumers, raising their monthly bills. The increase is mainly due to rising demand and the use of expensive power plants.
