Dollar climbs to Rs280.60 - What’s fueling rupee’s slide?

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) The US Dollar on Monday appreciated by 14 paisa against the Pakistani rupee in the interbank trading and local currency closed at Rs280.60.

On the previous day, the rupee closed at Rs280.46, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP). The buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs280.65 and Rs282.15, respectively, the association said.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported that the price of the Euro increased by 79 paisa to close at Rs319.75 against the last day’s closing of Rs318.96.

The SBP said that the exchange rates of the Emirates Dirham and the Saudi Riyal increased by 04 and 05 pasia to close at Rs76.39 and Rs74.76, respectively.

The Japanese yen remained unchanged and closed at Rs1.96, whereas an increase of Rs3.69 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which was traded at Rs369.66 as compared to the last day’s closing of Rs366.54.
