Nighaban cards rollout begins
Member of the National Assembly Tahira Aurangzeb handed out the first cards. The programme allows beneficiaries to withdraw Rs10,500 every three months to support their daily needs.
Aurangzeb said 1,000 Nighaban cards have been prepared initially, and the number will increase gradually to cover more families.
Ceremony highlights and government vision
The distribution ceremony was held at the auditorium of Waqarun Nisa College, attended by men and women from minority communities.
Addressing the gathering, Aurangzeb said, “Participants are fortunate to witness development that previous generations could not see.” She added that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is introducing welfare programmes that reach people at their doorsteps.
She emphasized that population growth must be managed to ensure welfare resources are effective. Sharing an example from her UK visit, Aurangzeb noted how controlling population was part of national planning abroad.
