Motorway toll tax revised with new rates for cars, buses and trucks
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has officially announced new toll rates for the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2). The revised charges include a 7 percent increase and will apply to all major types of vehicles.
According to the official notification, the new toll rates came into effect on July 5, 2026. These rates will remain valid until April 23, 2027.
The NHA said the increase has been made under a 2014 agreement. Under this policy, motorway toll rates are revised after a fixed period.
Under the new schedule, the toll tax for cars, jeeps and taxis has been increased to Rs1,430. The toll for vans has been set at Rs2,390, while coaster vehicles will now pay Rs3,350.
The notification also states that buses will now pay Rs4,770 as toll tax. Two and three-axle trucks will be charged Rs6,210, while articulated trucks will pay Rs7,980.

The revised toll rates are expected to increase travel costs for people driving between Lahore and Islamabad. Commercial transport operators and logistics companies are also likely to face higher operating expenses.
People associated with the transport sector believe the increase may affect passenger fares and the cost of transporting goods. Higher transportation expenses could eventually influence the prices of products in the market.
NHA officials said the revised toll rates have been implemented according to the approved policy and the existing agreement. They added that the increase follows the terms already agreed under the long-term motorway contract.
The toll increase will make motorway travel more expensive for both private and commercial vehicles. If transport costs continue to rise, passengers and businesses may also have to bear higher expenses in the coming months.
