(Web Desk): The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has ruled that daily wages and temporary services must also be included pensions.

Daily wagers pensions have been approved after the Sindh High Court ordered that temporary workers must also receive retirement benefits. The ruling could bring relief to many retired employees whose earlier service was left out.

The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court gave the decision while hearing a case related to retired employees of the Civil Aviation Authority. The court cancelled departmental orders that had excluded previous years of service from pension calculations.

During the hearing, lawyers for the petitioners told the court that the employees had started work on daily wages between 1998 and 2001. They were later regularised in 2009, but their earlier service period was not counted after retirement.

The bench observed that pension is a legal right of retired employees. It said ignoring previous service is unlawful and an administrative condition cannot take away a basic right available to workers.

The court directed the authorities to recalculate pension benefits by counting the full length of service. It also ordered that all pending dues must be cleared within two months.

The ruling is being seen as an important development for daily wagers and temporary workers across Pakistan. Many employees who spent years in service may now expect their earlier work period to be recognised.

The court has made it clear that service cannot be ignored just because a worker started on daily wages. This ruling may encourage more retired employees to seek benefits that were previously denied.
