BISP shifts payment system to digital wallet to ensure transparency
Benazir Income Support Programme (BISE) announced shift to digital wallet payments from 2026 to improve transparency and speed of aid.
Digital Wallet System Introduced
Under the new system, beneficiaries will receive their quarterly stipend of Rs14,500 directly into their mobile wallet accounts. The government has discontinued the previous manual and camp-based payment methods, opting instead for direct transfers linked to registered SIM cards.
Multiple Withdrawal Options Available
To facilitate easy access, BISP has partnered with leading financial service providers including Easypaisa and JazzCash. Beneficiaries can also withdraw funds through Bank Alfalah, HBL Microfinance Bank, Bank of Punjab, and Konnect retail networks, as well as ATMs and local agents nationwide.
No More District Restrictions
Previously, recipients were required to visit designated camps or specific districts to collect payments. With the digital wallet system, women beneficiaries can now access their funds from anywhere in Pakistan, significantly reducing travel and waiting times.
Focus on Women Empowerment
Officials stated that the new system is designed to prioritize women’s convenience and dignity. It eliminates long queues, minimizes unauthorized deductions, and enables beneficiaries to withdraw funds closer to their homes while maintaining privacy.
Automatic Account Creation
BISP will automatically create mobile wallet accounts using beneficiaries’ CNIC and registered SIM details. Women who do not yet have a registered SIM have been advised to obtain one through the nearest BISP office.
Widow Support Card Update
Separately, authorities confirmed that online applications for the Widow Support Card have now closed. The next phase involves verification, during which government representatives will visit applicants’ homes. Upon successful verification, eligible women will receive a card enabling them to access financial assistance.
