Shops and bazaars to open 24 hours as notification changes market timings

According to the administration spokesperson, the earlier rule requiring shops to close at 8pm or 10pm has been completely abolished. Wedding halls, however, will still only be allowed to operate until 10pm.

The business community warmly welcomed the government’s decision and called it a positive step for economic activity. Traders said longer business hours would help improve sales and allow citizens to complete shopping more conveniently.

Officials believe the new policy will increase commercial activities and make the city more active during late-night hours. Citizens are also expected to benefit from easier shopping access without worrying about early market closures.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Ijaz said providing relief to the trader community remains one of the government’s top priorities. He added that the decision would also create more convenience for citizens visiting markets and shopping centres.

The administration asked traders to maintain discipline and proper arrangements during business hours for the comfort of visitors. Authorities said the decision aims to create a safer and more organised business environment for both traders and customers.

Many traders believe the move could help revive business activity that slowed under earlier restrictions. Some shopkeepers also expect increased customer traffic during evening and late-night hours.
