Pakistan and China on Monday issued a joint communique calling for visible and verifiable actions to dismantle terrorist organisations based in Afghanistan and prevent their use of Afghan territory for attacks against other countries. The statement followed the 7th Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Beijing, attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

The two sides agreed to maintain close coordination on the Afghan issue, urging the Afghan government to adopt inclusive political frameworks, moderate policies, and development-focused initiatives. China commended Pakistan’s efforts in combating terrorism and protecting Chinese personnel and projects, acknowledging the sacrifices made by Islamabad over the years.

The communique also highlighted an “upgraded version 2.0” of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with a focus on industry, agriculture, mining, Gwadar Port operations, and sustainable development. Both countries pledged to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, technology, cybersecurity, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

During the dialogue, Pakistan and China reaffirmed support for the UN Charter, international law, and multilateralism, while opposing unilateral actions and double standards in counter-terrorism. They reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the One-China principle and support for China on issues including Xinjiang, Hong Kong, and the South China Sea.

Deputy PM Dar also met Chinese officials to review mining, socio-economic, and development cooperation, praising China’s support in Pakistan’s economic transformation and strategic projects.
