US business tycoons Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg have attended Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding celebrations, and famous singer Rihanna has also performed in a pre-wedding ceremony.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding has become one of the most expensive weddings in history.
But was it more expensive than the weddings of Isha Ambani (Mukesh Ambani’s daughter) and Anand Piramal or Prince Charles and Princess Diana?

6. Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia
Cost: $55 million to $60 million (about US$90 million in today’s terms)
According to Guinness World Records, Vanisha Mittal, daughter of Indian steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, held her engagement ceremony at the Palace of Versailles in France in 2004. Kylie Minogue performed at the event and was paid US$330,000. The wedding was held at the 17th-century Chateau Vaux Le Vicomte.
5. Brahmani Reddy and Rajiv Reddy
Cost: $74 million (about $96 million in today’s terms)
Indian mining tycoon Gali Janardhana Reddy’s daughter Brahmani Reddy got married in 2016. The five-day event cost $74 million. Brazilian dancers also performed and guests were served food in pure gold and silver dishes.
4. Chantini Toor and Seemanto Roy; Richa Ahuja and Sushanto Roy
Cost: $75 million (about $124 million in today’s terms)
In 2004, Sahara founder Subrata Roy organised a grand double wedding for his two sons Seemanto Roy and Sushanto Roy. The six-day event was attended by 11,000 guests and 27 private jets were chartered.
3. Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal
Cost: $100 million (about $124 million in today’s terms)
Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani got married to Anand Piramal in 2018. The cost of this wedding was around $100 million. The three-venue event featured over 100 chartered flights and a performance by Beyoncé.
2. Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Cost: $45 million (about $137 million in today’s terms)
In 1979, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum got married to his first wife, Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum. The cost of the event was $45 million. A stadium was also built for the wedding ceremony in which 20,000 guests were invited.

Cost: $48 million (about $163 million in today’s terms)
The wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981 is called the "wedding of the century". The event was watched by 750 million TV viewers. Diana dressed in her unique gown which was decorated with 10,000 pearls. The cost of the wedding was $48 million.
