(Web Desk): US Iran talks to resume in Islamabad as Washington confirms Pakistan as mediator, signaling progress toward easing Middle East tensions and stabilizing markets.

The United States has confirmed that the second round of US Iran talks is “very likely” to take place in Islamabad, reinforcing Pakistan’s growing role as a key diplomatic mediator in the region.

Speaking at a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the upcoming negotiations with Iran are expected to be held at the same venue as the previous round, which impressed US President Donald Trump.

Pakistan Emerges as Sole Mediator

Leavitt described Pakistan as an “incredible mediator,” emphasizing that Pakistan remains the only channel for communication between Washington and Tehran during this critical phase. Despite offers from multiple countries to facilitate the talks, the US administration has chosen to continue working exclusively through Islamabad to maintain clarity and efficiency.

She also dismissed reports suggesting that the United States had requested an extension of a ceasefire, calling such claims inaccurate. According to her, discussions with Iran remain constructive, ongoing, and focused on reaching a viable agreement.

Progress Toward Agreement

The White House expressed optimism about the outcome of the negotiations, noting that there is a positive outlook for a potential deal. Leavitt highlighted that President Trump has clearly outlined US expectations and “red lines,” making it evident what conditions must be met for progress.

She added that it is in Iran’s best interest to respond positively to these demands, signaling a potential breakthrough if both sides maintain momentum.

Islamabad Prepares for High-Stakes Talks

Preparations are already underway in Islamabad for the next round of talks. Security arrangements have been intensified to ensure the safety of international delegations, reflecting the importance of the negotiations.

The discussions aim to reduce tensions in the Middle East, where ongoing conflict has disrupted energy markets and impacted daily life across several countries.

Trump Signals Talks Could Resume Soon

President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that negotiations could resume within days. However, officials suggest the meeting is more likely to take place toward the end of the week or early next week, depending on logistical and diplomatic coordination.

The continuation of talks in Islamabad underscores Pakistan’s strategic diplomatic position and its increasing influence in facilitating global conflict resolution.
