(Web Desk): Why is US President Donald Trump exposing his hidden agenda to control Iran’s oil resources such as Kharg Island, the most oil important hub of the country?

Kharg Island is the country’s most important oil export hub as it handles more than 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports, making it a critical economic lifeline. Trump’s statement is seen as one of his clearest signals yet about his future strategy regarding Iran.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Trump said, “The truth is, my favorite option is to take Iran’s oil,” adding that critics questioning his approach are “foolish.”

This marks a significant shift from his earlier stance. Previously, when asked about Venezuela, Trump avoided direct answers. However, after events involving Nicolás Maduro, he later declared control over Venezuela’s oil resources.

Speaking about Iran, Trump said multiple options are open, including a possible move on Kharg Island. He added that if the US takes control, it may need to stay there for some time.

Meanwhile, global oil prices have surged due to ongoing tensions. US crude oil prices have crossed $116 per barrel, reflecting growing uncertainty in energy markets.

The US has also deployed thousands of additional troops to the Middle East to prepare for any emergency situation.

At the same time, the US administration is signaling talks over a 15-point peace plan, though Trump did not confirm whether a ceasefire is likely soon.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted around 20 percent of global oil trade. Trump claimed that the US has already targeted 13,000 sites in Iran, with 3,000 more remaining.

Experts warn that any attempt to take control of Kharg Island would require a large ground operation. This could expand the war and lead to heavy losses for the US.

Trump’s statement is very direct. It shows economic goals behind the conflict. Oil is clearly a major factor. Such moves can increase global tensions quickly.
