LAHORE (Web Desk): PM Shehbaz Sharif receives Trump’s invitation to join the Gaza peace board, as Pakistan signals continued support for international efforts on peace and security.

The Foreign Office (FO) confirmed that United States President Donald Trump has invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to become part of the Board of Peace on Gaza.

Responding to media questions, FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said, “Pakistan will remain engaged with international efforts for peace and security in Gaza, leading to a lasting solution to the Palestine issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions.”

Pakistan has repeatedly told global forums that it is ready to play a “constructive role” in peace efforts linked to Palestine. However, officials have made clear that this support does not include military involvement.

Last month, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan’s civil and military leadership is united on not sending troops to Gaza to disarm Hamas.

Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace” for post-war Gaza began forming over the weekend. Leaders from Egypt, Turkey, Argentina and Canada were also invited to join the panel.

Earlier, Trump named US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and senior negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff as members. Hence, Trump has declared himself the chair of the board.
