(Web Desk): Iranian President warns any attack on Supreme Leader Khamenei will be viewed as a full declaration of war, heightening US-Iran tensions amid regional unrest.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a stern warning that any attack against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be considered a full declaration of war against the Iranian nation.

Speaking on the social media platform X, Pezeshkian highlighted that the longstanding hostility and inhumane sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies have contributed significantly to Iran’s ongoing economic challenges. He stressed that any threat to the Supreme Leader is a threat to the entire Iranian population and will provoke a decisive national response.

This statement follows recent remarks by Supreme Leader Khamenei, who held former US President Donald Trump responsible for the deaths and destruction linked to foreign elements during the recent protests in Iran. Khamenei criticized Trump for inciting unrest and holding a direct role in destabilizing the country.

In turn, former US President Trump publicly demanded a change in Iran’s leadership, asserting in interviews that the time has come for new leadership in Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also been accused of encouraging Iranian protesters during the unrest.

The unrest began as peaceful protests led by Iranian traders in late December but escalated into violence after foreign-backed groups allegedly infiltrated demonstrations. Iranian authorities blamed the United States, Israel, and foreign intelligence agencies for orchestrating chaos, targeting security forces, civilians, and public infrastructure.

President Pezeshkian’s warning underscores the heightened tensions in the Middle East as diplomatic and military standoffs continue between Iran, the United States, and its allies. Analysts note that the rhetoric further complicates the prospects for easing regional conflict and calls for international attention to prevent escalation.
