Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has raised serious concerns ahead of anticipated Iran-US talks, claiming that key elements of a proposed agreement were violated even before negotiations formally began.
In a statement, Ghalibaf said that three major points from Iran’s 10-point truce proposal had already been breached, undermining trust and the foundation for dialogue.
Three Key Violations Highlighted
According to Ghalibaf, the alleged violations include:
- A drone entering Iranian airspace without authorization
- Denial of Iran’s right to uranium enrichment
- Continued attacks in Lebanon, seen as a breach of ceasefire commitments
He emphasized that these actions directly contradict the proposed framework meant to enable constructive negotiations.

Ceasefire and Talks Deemed ‘Unreasonable’
Ghalibaf stated that given these developments, pursuing a bilateral ceasefire or entering negotiations with the United States would be “unreasonable.”
He also pointed to what he described as a longstanding pattern of broken commitments, saying that Iran’s deep mistrust of the United States is rooted in repeated violations of agreements.
According to his statement, the very basis for negotiation had been “openly and clearly violated” even before talks could begin, casting doubt over the credibility of the process.
US Responds, Sees Room for Agreement
In response, Vice President of the United States acknowledged Ghalibaf’s remarks, noting that the proposal under discussion is part of a broader 15-point framework.
The US side suggested that disagreement over three points could still indicate progress, as it implies alignment on several other aspects of the plan.
Rising Tensions Threaten Diplomatic Progress
The exchange highlights growing tensions between Iran and the United States ahead of critical negotiations. Disputes over uranium enrichment, regional conflict, and alleged airspace violations remain major obstacles.
Analysts warn that without mutual trust and adherence to initial commitments, the prospects for a successful agreement remain uncertain, potentially prolonging instability in the region.
