Qasim al-Araji, Iraq’s national security adviser, said Baghdad had presented the proposal to both Tehran and Riyadh.

He said the main problem between Iran and Saudi Arabia was a “crisis of trust”. Iraq believes a joint security platform could help both countries communicate more closely and prevent future tensions.

The proposal comes as the Middle East continues to face serious security and political challenges. Regional tensions have increased in recent months, making cooperation between major countries increasingly important.
