Iran’s president arrives in Islamabad for key high-level talks
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to arrive in Islamabad on Monday, June 23, for an official visit to Pakistan, the Foreign Office confirmed. The visit is taking place on the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and includes a high-level delegation accompanying the Iranian president.
During the visit, President Pezeshkian will hold meetings with Pakistan’s top leadership, including the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. These meetings are expected to focus on strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and reviewing key regional and international developments.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, both sides will discuss a wide range of bilateral issues, including trade expansion, energy cooperation, border security, and enhancement of people-to-people contacts. The leadership will also explore ways to deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Officials said that regional connectivity and evolving global challenges will also be part of the consultations. The two sides are expected to coordinate on shared strategies aimed at promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
The visit will also review progress made after recent understandings and memorandums of cooperation signed between the two countries, reflecting ongoing diplomatic engagement.
The Foreign Office stated that President Pezeshkian’s visit highlights the long-standing, brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran and is expected to open new avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors. This marks his second visit to Pakistan as Iran’s president, underscoring the importance both nations place on strengthening bilateral ties.
