An Iranian drone strike has targeted an area near a major oil refinery in Bahrain, leaving dozens of civilians injured and causing damage to nearby property, officials said.
According to international media reports, thick smoke was seen rising from the direction of an oil refinery located near the capital Manama. The attack reportedly occurred in the Sitra Island area, which hosts one of Bahrain’s most important energy facilities.
Authorities confirmed that the incident involved a drone strike believed to have been launched from Iran. Officials said several people were wounded and some infrastructure was damaged in the attack.
The Bahraini Ministry of Health stated that at least 32 civilians were injured in the drone strike on Sitra Island. Among the injured, four individuals are reported to be in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
The refinery targeted in the attack is considered the largest oil refinery in Bahrain and plays a crucial role in the country’s energy sector. Security officials said emergency teams quickly responded to the scene while firefighters and medical crews worked to control the situation.

Authorities have increased security around the affected area and are assessing the extent of damage caused by the strike. Investigations are also underway to determine further details about the incident.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates said its air defense systems are fully active and intercepting incoming missile threats amid heightened regional tensions.
In a separate development, reports indicated that a drone attack also targeted a US military base near Erbil International Airport in Erbil, Iraq, further raising concerns about escalating conflict across the region.
