Ali Larijani, Secretary General of Iran’s National Security Council, declared that Iran has prepared for a long war and will defend its 6,000-year-old civilization “at any cost.”
Speaking amid escalating regional tensions, Larijani warned that Iran’s enemies would regret what he described as serious miscalculations.
“We did not initiate this war, just as we have not done so in the past 300 years,” he stated, emphasizing that Iran’s actions are defensive in nature.

Iran’s Strategic Defense and Military Preparedness
Larijani stressed that Iran’s long-standing historical resilience demonstrates its capacity to endure prolonged conflict. He said the country is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests.
His remarks come as geopolitical tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel continue to intensify, raising concerns of broader regional instability.
Leadership Council Criticizes US and Israel
Meanwhile, Ali Reza Arafi, a member of Iran’s Interim Leadership Council, strongly criticized what he called “incorrect, inappropriate, and unjust” actions by the United States and Israel.
In his first statement after becoming a member of the council, Arafi said that recent US and Israeli actions against Iran were based on “miscalculations and flawed assumptions.”
He added that the leadership council would carry out its duties with vigilance and readiness during this critical period.
