Iran has put an MQ-9 drone on public display after claiming it was brought down during a recent US attack. Iranian media released video showing the drone displayed in Iran's Central Province.

The footage showed Iranian citizens gathering around the aircraft and taking photographs with it. The display has quickly drawn attention as tensions between Iran and the United States continue to rise.

$30 million drone attracts attention

According to Iranian media, the MQ-9 drone is worth around $30 million. The MQ-9 Reaper is a sophisticated unmanned aircraft mainly used for surveillance, reconnaissance and other military operations.

Displaying the drone publicly allows Iran to highlight what it describes as a successful interception of an advanced American military aircraft.

US claims mission completed

The development comes a day after the United States carried out bombing operations against targets in Iran. Washington later claimed that its forces had completed their objectives during the operation.

Foreign media reports said US strikes were carried out in several locations, including Qeshm Island, Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas, Sistan-Baluchistan and Hormozgan.
