Iranian state media have claimed that the largest US radar system in the Persian Gulf was destroyed during recent Iranian missile strikes.
According to reports, the advanced radar installation was capable of monitoring the entire Middle East region, with an estimated operational range of 5,000 kilometers and a value exceeding $1 billion.
However, US officials have not independently confirmed the destruction of the radar facility.
Strategic Importance of the US Radar System
The reported radar system was allegedly a key component of American regional defense infrastructure, designed to:
- Track ballistic missile launches
- Monitor aerial threats
- Provide early warning coverage across the Gulf
If confirmed, the destruction of such a system would mark a significant escalation in the ongoing military tensions between Iran and the United States.

In response, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that Iran is using mobile missile launchers to conduct attacks in the region.
CENTCOM said in a statement that the Iranian government is attempting to destabilize the region through missile fire, but US forces are actively neutralizing threats to maintain security.
Rising Military Tensions in the Gulf
The Persian Gulf remains a strategic hotspot amid escalating confrontations. The region hosts multiple US military assets and serves as a key corridor for global energy shipments.
Defense analysts warn that verified damage to US surveillance systems could shift the balance of power and intensify military operations across the Middle East.
At this stage, the claims remain based on Iranian state media reports, with no independent verification.
