Hajj lottery: Hajj and Umrah Authority reveals key eligibility rules 2027
Registration opens through Hajjaj platform
The General Authority for Hajj and Umrah has officially opened registration for the 1448 AH, or 2027, Hajj season. Eligible Libyan citizens can submit their applications through the Hajjaj online platform.
Applicants must be Libyan citizens and must not have performed Hajj before, either privately or as part of the Libyan pilgrimage delegation. They must also be at least 35 years old to qualify for registration.
Strict health conditions for applicants
Applicants must be physically fit and free from mental, psychological and contagious diseases. People with conditions including previous open-heart surgery, kidney dialysis, tumors or memory loss will not be eligible.
The health rules follow requirements issued by the Saudi Ministry of Health. Those selected in the lottery will also undergo medical examinations according to procedures set by the authority.
Passport and travel rules revealed
Selected pilgrims must have a valid electronic passport with at least six months of validity from the ninth of Dhu al-Hijjah. They must also accept group travel and accommodation arrangements supervised by the relevant authorities.
Women cannot register without a legal male guardian under the announced rules. The authority also said that selected applicants cannot be replaced or transferred to another person after selection.
Registration details and quota explained
The phone number used during registration must be linked to the applicant’s national ID number. Applicants have also been advised to keep their registration number and complete all required documents within the given deadline.
Half of the approved pilgrim quota has been reserved for people aged 65 and above. Anyone who fails to meet the registration conditions or provides incorrect information may be excluded from the process.
The authority urged eligible citizens to complete their applications through the Hajjaj online platform. The lottery system will determine which applicants are selected to perform Hajj in 2027.
The new rules show that the Hajj selection process will focus strongly on health, age and eligibility. The special quota for people aged 65 and above could also increase their chances of being selected.
Applicants should carefully check their documents and health eligibility before registering. Keeping the registration number and completing all paperwork on time will also be important.
