An emotional social media post by Iran’s parliament speaker has drawn global attention ahead of high-stakes talks in Islamabad.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf shared a picture from his flight to Pakistan on X, showing airplane seats displaying photos of Iranian children reportedly killed in recent US and Israeli strikes. The images, decorated with flowers, also included school bags and shoes, symbolizing the victims.
In his post, Ghalibaf wrote that those pictured were his “companions on the flight,” a message that quickly gained traction online and sparked emotional reactions.
The images are linked to a reported attack on a school in Iran during the early days of the conflict, where at least 168 people, including children, were killed. The incident has intensified tensions and added a human dimension to the ongoing geopolitical crisis.
The Iranian delegation, led by Ghalibaf, has now arrived in Islamabad to participate in crucial negotiations with the United States. Abbas Araghchi is also part of the visiting delegation.

According to officials, the talks are aimed at easing tensions following recent escalations between Iran, the US, and Israel.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump confirmed that a high-level American team will attend the discussions. He stated that JD Vance, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff will represent the United States in the Islamabad talks.
The development underscores the sensitive backdrop of the negotiations.
