(Web Desk): United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily suspended issuing visit and work visas to citizens of nine nations.

The suspension covers tourist and work visas, as stated in an internal circular by UAE immigration authorities. Citizens of Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and Bangladesh cannot now apply for a new UAE visa.

Nonetheless, holders of valid visas from these nations are not affected and can still visit and remain in the UAE under normal conditions. Officials have not offered a public reason for the action, although it is reported that the motivation might be related to security, control over immigration, and diplomatic considerations.

Security experts opine that some of the involved countries suffer from ongoing political unrest and internal strife, which would have played a role in the UAE s cautious stance. Experts on immigration further opine that the suspension could be with a view to cracking down on overstaying and fake travel documents.

The UAE has in the past sometimes imposed similar visa restrictions to govern migration and maintain compliance with entry regulations.

Though Nepal is not on the present suspension list, search terms such as "UAE visa ban for Nepali" have become popular online because of the country s huge expat labor force in the Emirates. Authorities have, however, clarified that Nepali citizens are not affected at present.
