RIYADH: (Web Desk) Abdul Wahab Bin Zain Al-Abedin Al-Shaibi has been named as the new chief key holder of the Holy Kaaba.

The key of the door of the Kaaba has been handed over to Abdul Wahab Bin Zain Al-Abedin Al-Shaibi after the death of Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaibi, the elder of the Shaibi tribe.

It is believed that the family of Dr Sahl bin Zain Al-Abedin received the key from Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and has had it ever since. For centuries, this family has been responsible for keeping the key safe.

Sheikh Saleh Al-Shaibi was the 109th heir of the family who was given the responsibility of holding the key. The key was handed over to him in 2013 after the death of his uncle Abdul Qadir Taha Al-Shaibi.

Sheikh Saleh, who had a PhD in Islamic Studies from Umm Al-Qura University, was born in 1947 in Makkah.

He taught as a teacher at the same university for many years and also published many research articles and books on Islam.

There is only one door to enter the Kaaba which is called Bab-e-Kaaba. The Kaaba is 2.13 meters high from the floor of the Haram.

This door is located near the northeastern wall of the Kaaba and is located very close to the Black Stone (Hajar Al-Aswad) from where Tawaf begins.
