(Web Desk): Canadian police have arrested several Indian nationals after seizing 1.7 tonnes of narcotics worth an estimated $139 million during a major anti-drug operation targeting an alleged drug trafficking network.

The operation, known as Project B, was launched to dismantle a suspected drug trafficking network believed to be involved in transporting and distributing large quantities of illegal narcotics across Canada.

According to reports, those arrested include a truck driver and several other Indian nationals. Authorities said the suspects were taken into custody during coordinated raids carried out as part of the large-scale operation.

Police said the operation led to the seizure of 1.7 tonnes of narcotics with an estimated street value of $139 million, making it one of the largest drug seizures in Canada in recent months.

Canadian authorities have not yet released the identities of the suspects or disclosed the specific charges they may face. Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and more information will be shared as the case progresses.

Investigators are working to determine the full extent of the alleged trafficking network, including its supply routes, financial links, and possible connections to organised crime groups operating across international borders.

The arrests come as law enforcement agencies in several countries continue to strengthen cooperation to combat transnational organised crime and international drug trafficking.

Authorities have intensified efforts in recent months to dismantle criminal networks involved in the production, transportation, and distribution of illegal drugs, aiming to disrupt the global narcotics trade.

Canadian police said the investigation remains active, and further arrests or drug seizures cannot be ruled out as officers continue gathering evidence. The latest operation highlights the growing challenge posed by international drug trafficking networks and underscores the importance of cross-border cooperation in tackling organised crime.
