European powers ready to lift sanctions on Iran
The United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy have said they are prepared to lift sanctions on Iran if progress is made on its nuclear programme. This comes after a reported agreement between the United States and Iran to end their conflict.
In a joint statement, the leaders of the four European countries said Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon. They also said they are ready to work with the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to ensure this goal is achieved.
The statement suggests that sanctions relief could be used as a tool if Iran takes clear steps to control its nuclear activities. However, the final decision will depend on how the agreement is implemented on the ground.

Meanwhile, Japan has also welcomed the reported deal. Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi said the agreement is a positive step towards ending hostilities and restoring regional stability.
In a post on social media platform X, she said Japan strongly hopes that free and safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz will be ensured in practice. She also called for the full implementation of the agreement, including progress on Iran’s nuclear issue.
Her comments highlight global concern over maritime trade routes and energy supplies, especially through the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key shipping route for oil and goods.
