(Web Desk): Australia has issued a new travel advisory for Pakistan, urging citizens to reconsider whether they need to travel amid an uncertain security situation.

The advisory warns that conditions can change suddenly and without much notice.

Security situation highlighted

Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Timothy Kane also shared the updated advice, which says Pakistan’s security environment remains unpredictable. Australian citizens have been advised to avoid large gatherings, demonstrations and protests.

They have also been told to follow instructions from local authorities and monitor local media for developments. The advisory says travellers should stay alert and remain prepared for sudden changes.

Border tensions may affect travel

The advisory warns that military activity along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border could affect the wider security situation. This could lead to road closures, transport disruptions, movement restrictions and increased security measures at short notice.

Australian citizens have been advised to take extra care around government buildings, places of worship and security checkpoints. They are also encouraged to travel with a valid Australian passport.

Dual nationals face additional risks

Australian-Pakistani dual nationals have been warned that travelling on a Pakistani passport could create difficulties when leaving Pakistan or returning to Australia. The government recommends using a valid Australian passport for travel.

Australian citizens of Afghan origin may also face additional questioning, screening or detention by Pakistani authorities. The advisory says this could happen even when they hold a valid visa.

The updated advice shows that Australia is concerned about possible sudden changes in Pakistan’s security situation. Travellers should check official guidance before travelling and remain alert to local developments.
