Senior Indian politician and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor has acknowledged Pakistan’s role in helping secure the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
In an interview with India Today, Tharoor described Pakistan’s involvement as a significant diplomatic achievement during a tense global situation. He said the world is rapidly changing and Pakistan appears to be playing an increasingly active role in international diplomacy.
According to Tharoor, the fact that US President Donald Trump publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s role in the ceasefire was unexpected. He said this development could be seen as a diplomatic setback for India.
Tharoor suggested that Pakistan is presenting itself as a stabilizing force in global politics, while India seems to be losing ground in diplomatic engagement.

He also criticized India’s current political focus, saying the country appears more concerned with smaller domestic issues rather than important international developments.
According to him, ignoring global changes could damage India’s diplomatic position in the future. Tharoor warned that remaining silent during major global shifts is not a wise strategy.
He urged India to seriously review its foreign policy approach and take a more active role in international affairs. He also emphasized that the global political system is evolving quickly.
If India fails to adapt, he said, the country may face further diplomatic challenges in the coming years.
