Global passport rankings released: Singapore tops list, Pakistan among lowest
According to the Henley Passport Index, Singapore has retained its position as the world’s most powerful passport, allowing its citizens to travel to 192 destinations without a visa. The ranking reflects the country’s strong international mobility and diplomatic ties.
In second place, Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates share the spot, with their citizens enjoying visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 187 countries. Norway and Switzerland follow closely, offering access to 185 destinations.
The report indicates that European countries continue to dominate the rankings overall, with the European Union averaging visa-free access to 183 destinations, on par with countries like Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
On the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the index, with its citizens able to travel visa-free to only 23 countries. Syria and Iraq rank just above Afghanistan among the weakest passports globally.
Pakistan is also listed among the lowest-ranking passports, placed fourth from the bottom. Pakistani passport holders currently have visa-free access to just 31 countries, reflecting ongoing challenges in global mobility.
The rankings are based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and are widely regarded as a key indicator of a country’s global standing and travel freedom.
Experts say passport strength is closely tied to diplomatic relations, economic stability, and international agreements, making it an important measure of global connectivity.
