(Web Desk): New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani opposed the US-Israel strikes on Iran, calling it a dangerous escalation that could expand war and hurt civilians.

After President Donald Trump announced that the United States and Israel carried out military strikes in Iran, Mamdani reacted openly on social media. He described the action as “A catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression,” in a post on X.

He further wrote, “Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war,” and added that Americans do not want another war. He said people want relief from rising living costs and peace instead of conflict. His statements clearly showed his opposition to military expansion.

Many other elected officials in New York focused on questioning whether presidential approval or congressional consent was needed before launching strikes. However, Mamdani took a stronger stance, directly criticizing the action. Some critics accused him of supporting Iran, but supporters say he is speaking for voters who oppose war.

Former New York Mayor Bill De Blasio said that city leaders often speak on international issues because New York represents diverse communities and global interests. He supported Mamdani’s right to express his position publicly.

Mamdani gained strong support from younger voters in his election victory. Surveys show that around 76 percent of Americans under 30 disapprove of military action in Iran, reflecting growing resistance among youth toward new wars. Youth organizations also backed his statement, saying Americans reject unjustified military escalation.

The mayor also referred to past US wars, especially the Iraq conflict, which was based on claims later proven false. That war caused massive destruction and thousands of deaths, leaving long lasting impact. He warned that repeating similar military decisions could bring serious consequences again.

Mamdani also clarified that he supports criticism of Iran’s government for repression but believes war is not the solution. He said experience shows that regime change wars often create more instability instead of peace.

Political observers believe his stand strengthens his image among young voters but may create tension with federal leaders. His position highlights the growing debate in America about foreign policy and military involvement abroad.

Mamdani opposes war and supports peace. His comments reflect youth concerns about military action. The debate shows division in US politics. Foreign policy decisions remain highly sensitive.
