(Web Desk): Despite escalating tensions, the US emphasizes diplomacy with Iran while maintaining military operations in the region.

The United States has clarified that it remains open to diplomatic negotiations with Iran, even as tensions in the region continue to rise.

During an interview, Tommy Piggott, spokesperson for the US State Department, stated that former President Donald Trump preferred diplomatic engagement with Iran before considering military action and has consistently prioritized negotiation over conflict.

Piggott added that the United States will continue its operations to achieve strategic objectives, citing Iran’s alleged attacks on civilian areas and critical infrastructure in the region. Analysts, including Barbara Slavin of the Stimson Center, noted that Trump may be increasing pressure on Iran to resolve the conflict while avoiding the perception of failure.

The US maintains that Iran continues its nuclear weapons program, a claim that Tehran strongly denies. Trump recently addressed the nation, asserting US superiority in any potential conflict, though disruptions such as Iran’s partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz have contributed to rising global energy prices.

Experts emphasize that diplomatic negotiations are essential to de-escalate tensions, but Trump’s threats and ongoing military actions have left the region in a state of uncertainty. International leaders are urging restraint and encouraging diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation and maintain regional stability.
