(Web Desk): The United States has reportedly asked Ukraine for special assistance and expertise to counter Iranian Shahed drones amid rising regional tensions.

The United States has reportedly requested Ukraine’s assistance to deal with Iranian Shahed drones, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Zelensky said that Washington has asked Kyiv for “special help” in countering the threat posed by Iranian-made drones. In a message posted on the social platform X, he stated that Ukraine continues to support its partners who help ensure the country’s security and protect the lives of its people.

Zelensky explained that he has already instructed officials to provide the necessary resources and ensure the presence of Ukrainian experts who can assist in strengthening security measures. He noted that Ukraine is ready to share its experience in dealing with drone threats.

Ukraine has gained significant expertise in drone warfare during its ongoing conflict with Russia. Ukrainian forces have used drones effectively to strike key targets and disrupt Russian military operations, demonstrating the growing importance of unmanned aerial technology in modern warfare.

The Ukrainian president also said in his recent nightly address that Kyiv remains in daily contact with U.S. officials. He added that discussions include developments related to the ongoing tensions involving Iran and broader regional security issues.

Military analysts say Ukraine’s experience in countering and deploying drones has made it an important partner in addressing new aerial threats. Iranian Shahed drones, which have been used in several regional conflicts, are known for their long range and ability to carry explosive payloads.

Experts believe that cooperation between the United States and Ukraine could strengthen efforts to detect, track, and neutralize drone attacks in future conflicts.
