(Web Desk): Former CIA chief Leon Panetta warns Trump faces a no-win situation as Iran conflict escalates.

Former US Defense Secretary and ex-CIA Director Leon Panetta has warned that Donald Trump is stuck in a dangerous “no-win” situation after three weeks of ongoing conflict with Iran.

In an interview with a British newspaper, Panetta strongly criticized Trump’s war strategy, saying it lacks serious planning and instead relies on “wishful thinking.” He added that Trump appears to believe his statements can turn into reality on their own, calling it an irresponsible approach during a major conflict.

Panetta also described the killing of Ali Khamenei as a major mistake. Instead of triggering a public uprising, it led to the emergence of a more hardline leadership in Iran, further complicating the situation.

He expressed surprise that US authorities had not prepared for the possibility of Iran blocking the Strait of Hormuz, despite it being a known national security risk. Panetta warned that any disruption in the strait could trigger a global oil crisis.

According to Panetta, a ceasefire now seems unlikely as long as Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz. He said the US may be left with the option of targeting Iran’s coastal defense systems to ensure safe passage for oil tankers, though this could intensify the war and increase casualties.

Panetta also criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, calling him more of a political supporter than an effective leader. He further condemned the use of war footage and fallen soldiers for publicity and fundraising, describing it as unethical.
