‘Abusers’ arrested after 16 children found in ‘deplorable’ conditions inside home
Several children needed urgent medical care, making the shocking discovery one of the worst officials had ever seen.
Police and investigators searched a house in the small village of Hamden, Ohio, where they rescued 16 children ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years. Authorities said the children were found in extremely poor conditions and many required immediate medical attention.
Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson described the scene as something beyond imagination. He said the children were living in “deplorable” conditions and added, “Conditions you cannot even imagine people being in, let alone children being in.”
The arrested suspects were identified as Gary Siders Jr., Gary Siders Sr., Christina Siders and Elizabeth Siders. They have been taken into custody and are yet to be formally arraigned or assigned public defenders.
According to Vinton County Prosecuting Attorney William Archer, all four suspects are facing second-degree felony child endangerment charges. He said the charges involve “serious physical harm” caused to the children.
Officials said the children included both boys and girls, with ages ranging from 18 months to 18 years. Several children were in critical condition when they were found, while two were airlifted to Level I trauma centers for emergency treatment.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the children were related to the suspects. They also ruled out human trafficking and said the adults did not appear to be local residents but were believed to have been traveling.

Hamden is a small village with fewer than 1,000 residents and is located about 60 miles southeast of Columbus. The discovery has left the local community shocked and deeply concerned.
Investigators continued searching the property under a second search warrant as the investigation remained active. The four suspects were scheduled to appear in court the following morning.
Andy Wilson called the case the worst he had witnessed during his career. Describing the scene as “pure evil,” he promised, “Justice will be served for these children.”
The case has raised serious concerns about child safety and welfare. Investigators are expected to uncover more details as the inquiry continues and court proceedings begin.
