Officials said the licences will be granted at the same time to the three companies that successfully secured bids during the 5G spectrum auction.
Licences to be issued after bank guarantees
PTA officials confirmed that the licences will be issued once telecom companies submit the required bank guarantees.
According to officials, one telecom company has already completed the requirement, while the other two companies are expected to submit their guarantees within one to two days.
Each telecom operator must provide a $15 million bank guarantee to fulfill the regulatory conditions before receiving the 5G licence.
Pakistan moves closer to 5G launch
The development follows the second phase of Pakistan’s 5G spectrum auction held last week. The auction is considered an important step toward introducing high speed mobile internet services in the country.
Authorities believe the launch of 5G will significantly improve internet speed, network capacity and digital services across Pakistan.
Government expects major revenue
Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the auction is expected to generate about $510 million for the national treasury.
In local currency, the amount is estimated to be around Rs142,000,000,000. Officials say this revenue will support the government’s digital development plans.
Telecom companies start testing
Telecom operators said the auction process was conducted in a fair and transparent way.
They also confirmed that early testing of 5G technology has already started in several locations across the country to prepare for commercial services.
PTA highlights importance of spectrum auction
PTA Chairman retired Major General Hafeez ur Rehman said the spectrum auction is an important milestone for strengthening Pakistan’s digital connectivity.
He added that the move will support technology based economic growth and help expand modern communication services for citizens.
What 5G could mean for users
Once commercial services begin, users may experience much faster internet speeds compared to current 4G networks.

Experts say 5G technology can improve online services, digital businesses, remote work, education and smart city infrastructure.
Pakistan is moving slowly but steadily toward 5G technology. If licences are issued on time, telecom companies may expand testing quickly. However, nationwide availability may still take time as networks need upgrades and infrastructure expansion.
