KARACHI, Pakistan: In a major step toward enhancing Pakistan’s digital infrastructure and international connectivity, Transworld Associates (TWA) has announced the successful landing of the SEA-ME-WE 6 submarine cable system and the development of its state-of-the-art Tier III certified Data Centre in Karachi, set to launch in January 2026.

These two milestone projects mark a significant expansion in TWA’s network capabilities and reaffirm Pakistan’s growing role in the global digital ecosystem.

A Global Gateway for Pakistan

The SEA-ME-WE 6 (Southeast Asia–Middle East–Western Europe 6) submarine cable system, spanning over 21,700 kilometres, will connect 12 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. With a minimum design capacity of 132 terabits per second (Tbps) on 10 fiber pairs, it ranks among the most advanced and highest-capacity open cable systems in the world.

The SEA-ME-WE 6 system is being developed by a consortium of 16 leading telecom and technology companies, including Transworld Associates (Pakistan), BEYON B.S.C (Bahrain), Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC, China United Network Communications, Dhiraagu (Maldives), Djibouti Telecom, Telecom Egypt, Mobily (Saudi Arabia), Orange (France), PCCW Global, Singtel (Singapore), Sri Lanka Telecom, Telekom Malaysia, and Telin (Indonesia).

Advancing Digital Infrastructure with the Tier III Data Centre, Karachi

Complementing this subsea investment, TWA is building a state-of-the-art Tier III certified Data Centre in Karachi, designed to host critical digital operations with secure, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure.

Once launched in January 2026, the facility will cater to domestic and global businesses, empowering cloud infrastructure, enterprise networks, and content delivery systems. Its Tier III certification upholds the highest standards of availability, redundancy, and fault tolerance, delivering dependable performance for critical operations.

This project demonstrates TWA’s commitment to developing future-ready infrastructure that strengthens Pakistan’s data ecosystem and supports the country’s vision for a digitally empowered economy.

Driving a Connected and Competitive Pakistan

Speaking about these milestones, Saad Muzaffar Waraich, President, Transworld Associates, said:

“The SEA-ME-WE 6 landing and our Tier III Data Centre embody Transworld’s long-term vision to make Pakistan a stronger player in the global digital economy. These initiatives will strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, creating value for both local users and international partners”.

Industry experts view these developments as a vital boost to Pakistan’s digital transformation, enhancing internet resilience, enabling local hosting, and improving access to global cloud and content networks.
