According to details, the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has released its quarterly quality assessment report for July–September. Out of 205 tested brands, 26 were found to be substandard due to chemical contamination or microbial impurities.
Chemical Contamination
The report states that several brands were flagged for containing dangerously high levels of sodium, arsenic, TDS, and potassium.
- High Sodium: Pure Drinking Water, Altsun, Purifa
- Excess Arsenic: Natural Pure Life, Aqua Nest, Premium Safa Purified Water, Piyo Pani Bottle Drinking Water, Volga
- High TDS: Two brands (names not disclosed in summary)
- High Potassium: My Pure Water, Smart Pure Life

Microbial Contamination
Seventeen brands were found contaminated with hazardous bacteria, making them unsafe for human health.

A2Z Pure Drinking Water, New Mehran, Zalmi, Pure Life, Deer Drinking Water, Dream Pure, Gulf, Crystal Aqua, Roha Water, Pure Drinking Water, Premium Drinking Water, Fresh Aqua, Asia Healthy Drinking Water, Iceberg, Lasani, Volga, and Maya Premium Drinking Water.
Serious Health Risks
PCRWR stated that the presence of harmful bacteria and excessive chemical components makes these brands dangerous to human health, especially for children, elderly individuals, and those with existing health conditions.

Authorities have advised consumers to be extremely careful when buying bottled water and to choose only verified and approved brands for drinking purposes.
