Apple and Google have officially confirmed a landmark multi-year partnership to revolutionize the iPhone’s virtual assistant.

This strategic deal will see Google Gemini models serve as the new core for a revamped Siri, marking one of the most significant shifts in the history of Apple Intelligence.

Industry reports suggest that Apple and Google reached this agreement to accelerate the deployment of advanced generative features.

After careful evaluation, the iPhone maker determined that Google Gemini provides the most capable foundation for its next-generation foundation models.

This move aims to fix Siri’s previous limitations, enabling it to handle complex, multi-step tasks and provide human-like conversational responses.

The collaboration between Apple and Google is valued at approximately $1 billion annually. Despite using external technology, user privacy remains a cornerstone of the integration; data will be processed via Apple’s Private Cloud Compute to ensure no personal information is shared.

This hybrid architecture allows the tech giant to leverage Google Gemini for high-level reasoning while maintaining strict on-device security.

The first features from this Apple and Google alliance are expected to debut with the iOS 26.4 update later this spring.

While Apple will continue its existing partnership with OpenAI for certain creative tasks, Gemini will act as the primary brain for Siri’s daily planning and summarization capabilities, finally bringing the assistant into the modern AI era.
