Meta unveils its new AI agent
Meta has introduced Muse AI, a new system designed to do more than simply answer questions.
The company describes Meta Muse as a personal AI agent that can take action for users and help manage everyday tasks.
Unlike a traditional chatbot, Muse AI is designed to carry out work on a user’s behalf.
The personal AI agent can help with tasks, projects and longer-term goals.
Users can communicate with Meta Muse through its dedicated app or WhatsApp, making the system work much like a regular messaging conversation.
How the technology works
The system is powered by Muse Spark, which Meta describes as its most capable model so far for real-world agentic tasks.
The Muse Secure VM provides a dedicated virtual computer where the agent and a user’s connected data are kept.
Meta says Meta AI technology is being developed with the goal of helping people complete work rather than simply providing information.
With Muse Spark, users can tell the system what they want to accomplish and receive help creating a personalized plan.
The personal AI agent can open a browser, complete forms and work on tasks independently.

It can keep working
One of the notable features of Muse AI is its ability to continue working after users close the application.
The system can return when something changes or when it needs approval for an important action.
For example, it may ask before sending an email or completing a purchase.
Meta says Meta Muse can also help users negotiate bills, sell items and adjust plans when their circumstances change.
The Muse Secure VM is designed to keep these activities separate and protected inside a dedicated cloud environment.
Shopping and payments
The personal AI agent can also help users make online purchases through Link, a payment service built by Stripe.
Meta says Muse AI is the first AI agent covered by Link’s purchase protections.
Its agent wallet can generate a one-time-use card so users do not have to expose their actual card details during purchases.
Meta also plans to add Shop Pay and 1Password support.
Privacy remains a key focus
Meta says Muse Secure VM was created specifically to provide stronger security for personal agents.
A separate system called Sentinel controls the agent’s internet access and can require user approval.
Meta Muse does not directly see users’ passwords or payment information stored through connected services.
Users can decide which apps are connected and how much access the personal AI agent receives.
They can also change permissions or disconnect services whenever they want.

What Muse can remember
Another feature allows Muse AI to remember information that users consider important.
For example, it could turn a recipe saved on Instagram into a grocery list.
It could also suggest a dinner menu and remember guests’ dietary restrictions.
Meta says Muse Spark allows the system to become more useful by understanding information shared during conversations.
What comes next
Meta plans to introduce an upgraded confidential version of Muse Secure VM later this year.
The company says it will encrypt the entire virtual machine, including conversations and personal data, with a key controlled by the user.
Meta AI says Muse is rolling out in the US on iOS, Android and the web, with support for AI glasses expected soon.
The company sees Meta Muse as an early step toward what it calls personal superintelligence.
